The 2019 Medical Team to Tanzania from June 7th to 24th was a great success: The team had 15 members, including 4 from Stillwater, 1 from Norman, 7 from Arkansas, 2 from Colorado, and 1 from Texas. While in Morogoro, TZ, we worked closely with the Morogoro Diocese and Mazimbu Hospital. We treated about 128 patients and did about 30 surgeries. We visited the Berega Infants Home, delivering suitcases full of cloth diapers, baby clothes and socks. One of our team members, a goat specialist, spent most of his time in Berega helping them get a dairy herd established. They built shelters for feeding and milking the animals and "shopped" for goats and cows. The now have 3 or 4 cows and several goats as a good start for a herd.
Plans were underway for the 2020 Medical Team for June. However, due to the global pandemic and travel restrictions, we had to cancel the trip. We will plan on making the trip in 2021 if possible, dates to be determined. We will continue to work with the Morogoro Diocese, Mazibu Hospital, and Berega Infants Home.
Please keep our brothers and sisters in Tanzania in your prayers as they too struggle with all of the impacts of the pandemic.
Any financial assistance for the 2021 Medical Team and the purchase of more goats is appreciated. Checks can be made to Salem Lutheran Church with Tanzania Medical in the memo line. They can be mailed to Salem Lutheran Church, 101 S. Duck St, Stillwater, OK 74075.
Thank you! Cindy Lassman Pennie and the Medical team
